What are factors?
Numbers that can go into other numbers with no remainder.
How do we work out the factors of a number?
e.g.Factors of 24:
Step 1: What numbers can be multiplied by eachother to get to 24?
1x24
2x12
3x8
4x6
(The next number would be 6x4, so we stop here.)
Step 2: Write down the numbers in order from smalles to largest.
1,2,3,4,6,8,12,24.
NB: A number will always have the factors 1 and itself.
What are the factors of 56?
1x56
2x28
4x14
7x8
1,2,4,7,8,14,28,56.
What are multiples?
Multiples of 7: 7, 14, 21, 28, 35,42, 49…
Name 7 multiples of 4.
4,8,12,16,20,24,28.
Name 7 multiples of 3.
3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21.
Name the Highest Common Factor (HCF) of 12 and 30.
Factrs of 12: 1,2, 3, 4, 6, 12.
Factors of 30: 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 10, 15, 30.
=6
Name the Highest Common Factor (HCF) of 3 and 9
Factors of 3: 1,3
Factors of nine: 1, 3, 9.
=3
List the lowest common multiple of 3 and 4

List the lowest common multiple of 2 and 5
