factors affect the climate Flashcards
what is altitude
- elevation
- distance above the sea
note : air particles absorbs heat
what is maritime climate ?
-it is the experienced by places close to the sea
what is the air density and the temperature if the altitude is low?
the air density is high same as the temperature
what is windward side ?
a warm , moist air , where clouds form and has an abundant rain and vegetation
what climate do maritime climate experienced ?
moderate climate ( cold summer & warm winter )
what climate do continental climate experienced ?
extreme weather / hot summers and cold winter
why do maritime climate experience moderate and extreme for continental climate ?
the water absorbs the heat the coldness of the weather
What are the four main factors that can affect climate?
latitude, altitude , distance from the sea and topography / presence of mountains
what is leeward side ?
a rain shadow, where the cold air decends and becomes warm w no cloud form , seldom rains and desert plants grow
what side face the incoming wind?
windward side
what is the temperature if it is far away from the equator and is it close to the poles
the temperature is low and it is colder
what is the air density and the temperature if the altitude is high ?
thge air density is low same as the temperature
what is latitude
distance north or south of the equator
what is the temperature if its closer to the equator ?
the temperature is high and it is warmer
what is continental climate ?
-it is the experienced by places far away from the sea
