Factorization Flashcards
when is a polynomial said to be factorized completely?
written as a product of only prime factors.
define p(x)?
p= polynomial
x= name of polynomial
factorization techniques?
- common
- grouping
- difference of two squares
- formula
- bridge method
- sum & difference of cubes
- seperate the 3 & 1
- factor theoerm
- sometimes middle term wouldn’t be given or it would be given but incomplete
- sometimes perfect square won’t be given
- pg 101
- Dividend = Divisor x Quotient + Remainder
define dividend divisor
quotient
remiander?
if x-a is a factor of p (x) then???
remiander = 0
factor theorem
how to check if x-a is a factor of p(x)?
find their remainder by remainder theorem & if R=0 then it is a factor (according to factor theorem)
what do we mean by fully divisible?
when you divide “a” by “b,” the result is a whole number without any remainder. In other words, the division is exact, and there is no fraction or remainder left over.
leading coefficient?
The leading term is the term containing the highest power of the variable.
The leading coefficient is the coefficient of the leading term.
in factorization of cubic polynomials by factor theorem what is p & what is q? p/q
p = constant
q= leading coefficient
what are factors?
how to find factors of a number
pair of whole number that x together to make that no.
or no. that divide w/ that no. to make a whole number
