Facial Artery Flashcards
The Facial Artery is going to supply 5 main branches…
hint: A. S. I. S. A.
- ascending palatine
- submental artery
- inferior labial artery
- superior labial artery
- angular
Ascending Palatine supplies what structure?
soft palate, palatine muscles and tonsils
Submental supplies what structures?
submental, submandibular salivary gland, lymph nodes, mylohyoid muscle, digastric muscle
Inferior Labial supplies what structures?
lower lip (depressor muscles of facial expressions) e.g. mentalis and depressor anguli oris
Superior Labial supplies what structures?
upper lip (e.g. zygo minor)
Angular supplies what structures?
tissues lateral to the nose (up to the bridge of the nose)
What is the Angular known as?
the Terminal Branch of the Facial Artery
Side Note:
the mylohyoid is supplied by both sides
