Q

What are the advantages/disadvantages of PoSI?

A

Advantages:
- Since PoSI follows business processes, IT and business are naturally aligned in this kind of integration.
– By placing the control logic on the top of the integrated applications, processoriented SI offers flexible and reusable integration solutions

Disadvantages:
- It is time and resource consuming to set up a process-oriented SI
– process logic needs to be defined, and the existing systems need to be used/reengineered accordingly.

Q

What is PoSI?

A

Process oriented System Integration

The service-oriented integration enables isolated, one-to-one interactions among integrated
applications/systems/services

Q

What are the PoSI main phases?

A

Modeling:
- In this phase a process model is designed to enable a flow-oriented integration (i.e. orderings and rules) of existing systems

Integration:
- In this phase, the interfaces between the activities of process model(s) and existing systems are define. First on a conceptual level and then och a technical level.

Q

What types of process models exists?

A

Descriptive (D) - Describes the process, how it is working

Normative (N) - Describes how processes should work, rather
than how it is working

Executable (E) - Describes how processes should work, and
such models can be used by systems (such as integration
brokers not by people) to interpret the models and execute the process

Q

What is a private/public process in BPMN?

A

Private process – is the primary process having much greater detail than public processes. It is internal to a specific organization. A private process is designed for internal purposes; thus, its elements are not public.
Every private process contains start and end events.
Every other process (public process) should interact with it.

Public process – participates in the interaction with the private process. The model mainly reflects or shows the interaction with the internal business process.
You do not need to show detailed process parts of the public process, and this means internal interaction of the public process is not shown. Thus, it mainly aims to show the sequences of the private business process.

A

Business Process Execution Language

An XML-like process modeling language layered on the top of the Web service model as
defined by WSDL
