EZ-Tump 12 Flashcards
what is EZ-Thump ?
The EZ-Thump is a compact and light weight, battery or AC operated fault location system for low voltage and medium voltage cables.
The resistance between the HV return (operational ground) and safety ground should be less than __Ω (check with ohmmeter). If the resistance is greater than __Ω, what should be done?
5, If the resistance is greater than 5 Ω, an additional ground cable should be connected from the concentric directly to the system ground rod.

the main menu
When in the main menu what is the state of the system ?

int the main menu state, the high voltage source is still switched off and the high voltage output is pulled to ground via a discharge resistor.
Navigation within the available menu items is accomplished using what ?
the rotary knob

how is The currently selected menu item is identified ?
by a red circle.

Sectionalizing

what does sectionalizing mode do?

The sectionalizing mode is used to identify and indicate the location of transformers in a loop or radial system and, in the second step, to identify the faulty span of the system.
what is ARM ?

what does the setting do?

Set Marker at
Current Cursor
Position

Places an additional marker at the cursor position (see above). As
only one additional marker can be placed, the very last marker is
erased every time the marker is placed on a new position.

name the menu.

what is this menu used for?
Thumping
The thumping mode can be used to pinpoint a fault between two phase conductors or
between a phase conductor and the neutral conductor.

DC HIPOT Test

what is HIPOT test used for ?

A HIPOT test is used to test the dielectric strength of a cable and, if the test fails, to
determine the breakdown voltage.

name the menu.

Sheath Test

what is Sheath Test ?

With a sheath test the dielectric strength of the cable sheath can be tested by applying a
DC voltage of up to 5 kV to the cable shield (concentric neutral).
