1
Q

What is the vestibulo-ocular reflex?

Q

Smooth pursuit eye movements

A

These allow the observer to track a visual target and so keep the target stable on the retina—even if this is at the expense of an equal and opposite movement of the background.

Q

What is the “remote distractor effect”?

A

The increase in saccadic latency that results when the target for the saccade is presented concurrently with a distractor. Not the same as the gap effect during which the fixated item disappears before the new target appears.
