Eye and camera parts Flashcards
What is the cornea?
clear structure at the front of the eye that directs light from an object to the pupil.
What is the pupil?
opening through which light passes into the eye.
What is the iris?
colored, muscular ring of your eye that makes the pupil larger/smaller depending on the amount of light around it.
What is the lens?
flexible, convex structure that refracts light from the pupil to the retina.
What is the ciliary muscle?
adjusts the shape of the lens to allow it to focus light entering the eye.
What is the retina?
a tissue that lines the back of the eye on which images are formed .
What is the optic nerve?
sends images formed by the eye to the brain as an electrical system.
What are the rod cells?
light receptors found in the retina activated by low levels of light (don’t detect color)
What are cone cells?
light receptors found in the retina, activates in bright light, (detects red,blue, green) cones = color
Match these camera parts to the eye parts:
Light sensors
aperture
lens
diaphragm
focusing ring
light sensors = retina
aperture = pupil
lens = lens
diaphragm = iris
focusing ring = ciliary muscles
