How do you treat glaucoma?

A

1st line: beta blocker (e.g. betaxolol) - CI asthma
Prostaglandin eye drops (e.g. latanoprost)

2nd line:

  • sympathomimetic eye drops e.g. brimonidine
  • carbonic anhydrase inhibitor eye drops (also a type of diuretic) e.g. brinzolamide, dorzolamide

  • causes long eyelashes and darker iris colour

  • cloudy eye
  • nausea and vom
  • headache
  • intense eye pain
