The first construction units were organized in January 1942 when it was realized that the civilian engineers and construction force could not work out of the continental United States.

June 6th, 1944 - The largest amphibious operation in history. The largest naval armada was brought together to clear the oceans to Germany and help on the beach front of Normandy. The U.S. Fleet had superior speed and mobility to opposing Navy’s and could stand their ground with equal firepower.

Turning point for the war in the Pacific. The Japanese planned to hold the island of Midway but were met by U.S. Naval Forces. The Japanese lost four carriers and the island allowing the U.S. to gain it’s foothold to the Asian Pacific.
