A

June 6th, 1944 - The largest amphibious operation in history. The largest naval armada was brought together to clear the oceans to Germany and help on the beach front of Normandy. The U.S. Fleet had superior speed and mobility to opposing Navy’s and could stand their ground with equal firepower.

Turning point for the war in the Pacific. The Japanese planned to hold the island of Midway but were met by U.S. Naval Forces. The Japanese lost four carriers and the island allowing the U.S. to gain it’s foothold to the Asian Pacific.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD)

A

The primary mission is explosive ordnance location and disposal, rendering safe unexploded ordnance, diving and salvage operations, and organic C2 of EOD operations. Since the original conception as simple underwater mine disarming in WWII, EOD’s role has expanded enormously to include all conventional munitions, terrorist devices, nuclear weapons, and chemical/biological weapons on both land and under-water and are regularly attached to both shore or shipboard missions & duties.

Naval Construction Force (NCF)

A

Naval Construction (Seabees) provide a wide range of construction in support of operating forces, including roads, bridges, bunkers, airfields and logistics bases; provides responsive support disaster recovery operations; performs civic action projects to improve relations with other nations; and provides anti-terrorism and force protection for personnel and construction projects.

Naval Expeditionary Intelligence Command (NEIC)

A

Expeditionary Intelligence delivers flexible, capable and ready maritime expeditionary intelligence forces that respond rapidly to evolving irregular warfare area intelligence requirements. Intelligence teams supply expeditionary war fighters with timely relevant intelligence to deny the enemy sanctuary, freedom of movement and use of waterborne lines of communication while supported forces find, fix and destroy the enemy and enemy assets within the operational environment.

NAVELSG is a vital enabler of Maritime Pre-positioning Forces (MPF), Joint Logistics Over The Shore (JLOTS) operations, and maritime forces ashore providing expeditionary cargo handling services for surface, air, and terminal operations, tactical fueling, and ordnance handling/reporting in support of worldwide Naval, Joint, interagency, and combined forces/organization.

Expeditionary Combat Readiness Command (ECRC)

A

ECRC directly assists Individual Augmentee (IA) and GSA IA Sailors by ensuring they are properly uniformed and equipped while coordinating with the Army to ensure they get the proper stateside training. Training includes instruction in individual combat skills and specialized mission areas to help IAs succeed in their mission and keep them as safe as possible while deployed.
