Exudative Retinal Detachment Flashcards
1
Q
How does exudative retinal detachment occur?
A
If fluid gains access between the RPE and neurosensory layers then the 2 will seperate and don’t need a tear
2
Q
What is the mechanism that causes exudative detachment?
A
Fluid accumulates in the subretinal space due to a breakdown of the brb
3
Q
What is the breakdown of the brb caused by?
A
Posterior uveitis, scleritis, retrobulbar tumors, tb and syphylis
4
Q
Do exudative detachments occur in one eye or both?
A
Both and symmetrical
5
Q
what are the signs of exudative retinal detachment?
A
Retinal elevation or abnormal colouration
