Extras Flashcards
Clean path method
Common approach path - All traffic must be limited to a ‘Corridor’ this is to keep disturbance to the scene to a minimum. ideally the investigator should search the area to be used as a corridor prior to it receiving traffic.
When must the fire service report a fire to police
when there is serious injury, a death or when the fire is suspicious.
When conducting a Prelim internal examination where should you start
form the area of least damage into the most damaged/seat of the fire.
Difference between a gas explosion and someone setting explosives
Explosion caused by gas cover a wider area then those caused by explosives. gas explosion don’t leave craters. gas lighter then air blows out the top of walls and gas heavier then the air blows out the bottom of walls, in some cases gas explosion cause file cabinet to imploded, this is more obvious to experts.
What is the purpose of a conference after a suspicious fire
To form the basis of a scene examination and risk assessment planning
Preserving a fire scene
To assist with the preservation of a scene during a fire fighting operation the investigator should liaise with the fire incident controller to limit unnecessary operations within the area of origin, including the number of personal inside the structure
Stop fire fighter from removing debris from the scene
Best method of protection in relation to fire safety hazards
1 An assessment of each hazard, such as inhaling toxic substances, cut from sharp object, falling throw unstable flooring, tripping over debris etc
2 A strategy to prevent occurrences or to mitigate the impact
