Q

Why might oxygen tanks not be advised for some patients with COPD?

A

If the patient is still smoking.
Oxygen is a pressurised gas and should not be around open flames due to risk of explosions.

Q

Why might- use of nebulisers at home not be advised for some patients with COPD?

A

Moist and warm = high risk of infection

Only certain drugs are available as nebulisers.

Not portable/can be impractical.

Increase ocular pressure in glaucoma patients.

Can only be used if GP prescribes nebulisers.
