Extraoccular muscles Flashcards
Attachment of rectus muscles
Originate at the common tendinous ring and attach onto the sclera.
Action innervation and attachments of the superior rectus
Attaches to anteriosuperior sclera
primary action: elevation
Contributes to adduction and medial rotation
innervated by CN III
Action, innervation and attachments of inferior rectus
innervated by CN III
Attachment: inferioanterior sclera
primary action is depression. also contributes to adduction and lateral rotation.
Action, innervation and attachment of medial rectus
Adducts the eyeball
CN III
attaches to anteromedial sclera
Innervation, attachment and movement of lateral rectus
CN VI
abducts
attaches to anterolateral sclera
Attachment, innervation and action of Superior oblique
Attaches from body of sphenoid to the sclera posterior to the superior rectus.
Innervation: CN IV
action: depresses, abducts and ,medially rotates the eye
Attachment, innervation and action of inferior oblique
anterior aspect of orbital floor to posterior of the lateral rectus.
CN III
elevates, abducts and laterally rotates the eye.
