Extraction Steam And Drain System Flashcards
What does nitrogen do in the FW heater system?
Provides blanketing in the heaters shell side and HDTs
What does DS water in the ED system do?
Used to add cool water to the water volume that is maintained at the bottom of the blowdown stack.
What happens to the bleeder trip valves on loss of IA?
The will lose open permissive and go partially closed. They remain open due to steam flow.
What cools the heater drain pumps?
Condensate pump header and condensate service header.
What provides sealing steam for the GS system?
9th stage extraction
How many bleeder trip valves are on FW heaters 3,5,6,7?
One
How many BTVs are on FW heater 4?
Two because it has the highest amount of energy left in the steam and it connects to the lowest turbine stage.
What happens to the HP heater on a hi hi level alarm?
Extraction steam isolated
Normal level control valve of the preceding heater closes
Affected heaters extraction drain valve opened
What happens to a LP heater on a hi hi alarm?
Entire LP train is isolated.
Extraction steam to 3 & 4 heaters isolated
Opens extraction line drain valves for 3 & 4 heaters.
Where does gland steam receive sealing steam from?
Main steam
Aux steam
9th stage extraction
Stop and control valves
