Our modern-day state emerged from the state formation process in Europe as Church and state separated, the middle class few, institutions were built up, and Europeans imposed their system on their colonies and it remained even after they departed

The US had a period of unipolarity after the fall of the USSR, but as of 2015 China has emerged as a great power and restored the system back to bipolarity.

The U.S. has been pursuing an aggressive unipolar strategy but needs to shift their strategy a began to accept the development of other nations

There are a variety of ways we can work to instill world peace: shift focus to individuals, not allowing states to violate human rights bc they have sovereignty, UN focusing on stopping poverty, preventing conflict, and promoting democracy, and collective pursual of peace
It’s a Flat World After All
America needs to pick up the pace and increase education, creativity, and innovation in order to stay the leading power and stay ahead of China and India
Feminists and Fundamenalists
Women’s rights are a global good, humanity as a whole must fight to maintain prior advancements and continue to further women’s rights as well as defeat fundamentalist ideas which seek to continue oppression
Humanity’s Common Values
Huntington worries about the clash of civilizations causing conflict when really conflict generally occurs due to our shared human values (both positive and negative). As a whole we should band together to promote good common values and squash bad ones
The Illusions of Geopolitics
Mead worries about the coalition of Russia, China, and Iran usurping the US however the author points that this won’t happen bc of the rise of democracy and the US’ alliances and power. Additionally, Russia and China seek dominance in their region not over the whole world
Are the U.S. and China Headed for War
China will continue to grow and has the capabilities necessary to rise up and go to war with the US. But war is not inevitable we must carefully manage our relationship with China to prevent it
The New Age of Imperialism
US has been inclined to pursue a more aggressive role/FP which may be a sign of a reemergence/rising imperialism
