What is the first stage of labor latent phase mean?
Extends from the onset of labor, characterized by regular painful urterine contractions that cause cervical change to the beginning of the active phase, when cervical dilation occurs more rapidly
So pretty much painful contractions that go into fast dilation -> active
What is the first stage of labor active phase mean?
Defined as the period during which the greatest rate of cervical dilation occurs, which begins at 4-6cm, and ends with comepley cervical dilation at 10CM
How do we know it’s true labor ?
Contractions that change the size of the cervix and the fetus is pushing down to help change the size of the cervix or dilate it

What is crowning?
When we see the baby’s head, like round head
What is ritgen maneuver?
Helping the mom by grabbing the head and chin and rotating the baby to allow the rest of the baby to get through
What is nuchal cord?
When the cord is wrapped around the baby head and we should watch out since this can cause distress and we want to hold out on it so the baby can breathe
Do we do fundal pressure?
No!! Causes more damage
