What is commutative property?

A

When an order doesn’t change the sum or product, for example 7+9 and 9+7 both equal 16 so those have commutative property. Same thing with multiplication.

A

When grouping doesn’t change sum or product. For example, 8 x (2x3) and (8x2) x 3 both equal 48, so they have associative product

A

When adding an zero or multiply by 1 does not change the value.

A

When you add the opposite ( -2 x 2 = 0 )and the sum is 0. Or when you multiply reciprocals ( 1/3 x 3/1 = 1 ) and the product is 1.
