Q

How are Preserved Organisms made?

A

Small animals and plant matter sometimes become caught in resin as it is secreted from trees. The resin hardens to become amber leaving the organism preserved.

Q

What is mineral replacement

A

An animal dies and is buried by sediment. The sediment around the skeleton thickens and begins to turn to stone. The skeleton dissolves creating a mould in which minerals crystallise inside of. This creates a fossil which is then exposed to the earths surface. `
