External Nose + Lat. Nasal Wall Flashcards
1
Q
External nose made of ?
A
Osteocartilagenous part :
*upper 1/3rd consist of 2 bones (nasal bone and ethmoid bone )
*lower 2/3 rd consist of 3 paired + 1 unpaired cartilage
2
Q
What are Rhinophyma / potato tumour ?
A
- in long standing cases of acne rosacea
- due to hypertrophy of sebaceous glands
- Rx - Laser or cold steel excision followed by skin grafting

A
- vestibule
- nasal valve
- turbinates and meatuses asso. With lateral nasal wall
4

- of hair follicles
- area supplied by inferior orbital nerve
- in nasal vestibule
5
Q
Opening in Inferior meatues ?
A
nasolacrimal duct opens via Hasner valve
6
Q
What is ethmoidal bulla ?
A
- largest anterior ethmoidal air cell
- uncinate process runs parallel to it occupying antero- superior and postero- inferior area
- present in middle meatus

Q
What is hiatus semilunaris inferior ?
A
- 2D opening b/w EB and UP is k/n as hiatus semilunaris ( inferior)
- 3D room at the end of this hiatus k/n as infundibulum
- sinuses opening are - frontal , anterior ethmoidal , maxillary
8
Q
Oesteomeatal opening / picadeli’s circle ?
A
Ethmoidal bulla + uncinate process + infundibulum together known as picadeli’s circle .
9
Q
What is lateral sinus or sinus lateralis of Grunwald ?
A
- recess above bulla k/n as suprabullar recess
- recess behind bulla k/ n as retrobullar recess
- when both recess are in continuation then known as sinus lateralis of Grunwald
- The 2 dimensional opening into this lateral recess is called hiatus semilunaris superior
10
Q
What are haller cells ?
A
- formed due to pneumatization of roof of maxillary sinus ( infra orbital wall) .
