What is Cultural Deprivation?

A

The Cultural Deprivation theory is that some groups eg. lower social classes, have inferior norms, values, skills and knowledge that stop them from achieving in education.

looking at the here and now. Working class parents often put children in schools based on immediate gratification eg. friends from primary school are also going to that school. working class students display their want for immediate gratification as sometimes they will choose subjects based on what seems fun rather that what will help them find a career in the future.
