Meaning beauty and first coming from Greek philosophy the term is used to describe if something is “beautiful” (aesthetically pleasing)

Functionality: a job or purpose something or someone holds and how well they do said task

Composition:
How the art work is set up and where and the emotional attachment to how the artist has depicted his art work

Focal point:
Which angle we look at the work from giving us the highlights or the shadows of there work making us more connected with the art

Form and imagery

A

Form:
To give shape to an object gives the description of the shapes in a piece of work making the basic structure more obvious

Imagery:
A deeper meaning in art work maybe a mite in depth image or emotional connection. This sometimes relates to how you view the art

Lighting

A

Lighting refers to shadow, highlights and the direction of light sometimes this is used to help intensify the art giving it a better more exaggerated look or if the artist wanted to having a more dim surrounding would make the art feels softer

Line and location

A

Line:
Used to break up a price or to draw your attention to a specific part of the work, or it can be used to make a piece look more 2D with outline

Location:
the setting, does it help create a specific mood, does the position make sense, does it create a contrast, how does it make you feel, where is it?

A

How it makes you feel the ‘vibe’ the piece gives off, how does it make you feel, is it happy, sad, what colours does it use, are there certain shapes that relate to a feeling, does the image communicate anything

Pattern and perspective

A

Pattern:
A reoccurring design giving a nice repeating design giving the work an increased depth. Most patterns are complimentary to the work and tend to surround something

Perspective:
where you are looking at the work from and how that angle brings out the work maybe it was selected to give deeper meaning or because it looked better.

This can also relate to your perspective on the message behind the art.

Pose and scale

A

Pose:
How the person or object is held in the art work does it show confidence or do they look insecure. How does it project the mood surrounding the art piece

Scale:
Is the work to scale is everything the right size or are things out of proportion if so what’s out of proportion is it a nose that looks like Pinocchio to show they’re lying or is it something else and what does the t communicate to you.

A

Shape:
Basic shapes that make up the design such as the ellipse for things like bowls and cylinders for glass ect.

Style:
Artist style can depend on how they were affected by there inspiration this can in Clyde abstract paintings and how rustic something looks style ranges from technique to the finish it all depends on how the artist wants the final piece to look

Subject matter:
The main focal point on the price what is the main point what draws the most attention which part give the most effective projection of how this price creates mood.

Symbolism:
Is there a deeper meaning, does it communicate to you, what does it communicate? What mood is created, how does it make you feel

A

Texture:
Is it rough what sort of feeling is trying to be created here is it a more rough look or a smooth finish, is the artist trying to recreate the textures with the paint how does he create that look.

Tone:
Are tints and shades used how does it compliment the piece does it help the atmosphere does it create a deeper connection or does it create contrast
