A

Merciless iced east wind that knive us → nature is dangerous and cruel, unforgiving, violent

For love of god seems dying → soilders feel abandoned → emphaises lonliness of war

Misery of Dawn → juxtaposition (dawn is normally and beautiful and not feared) → shows how cruel and strange war is

All their eyes are ice → Trauma from the soldiers (no longer show emotion) / the soilders have been killed by the weather

But nothing happens - repition reinforces the boring nature of war → constant waiting

Pararhyme is used (half rhyme where hard constants rhyme but not vowels) to show the unease of the soldiers (ABBAC)
