what is the negative rule?

A

you put the base in the denominator and put a one in the numerator. You proceed to put the original exponent in the denominator. e.g 3^-2 becomes 1/3^2

A

a^x . a^y = a^x+y (if the bases are different you have to do the calculations). Multiplication.
