Rule 2: Responsibility

A

A

A

Rule 8: Action to avoid collision

A

Actions to avoid collision should be positive, made in ample time with good seamanship.
Any alteration of course should be made large enough to be readily apparent to another vessel visually, or by radar.
If enough sea-room an alteration of course will suffice.
Vessel shall not impede the passage of another vessel

Rule 13: Overtaking
Applies to boats in sight of another

A

Any vessel overtaking shall keep out of the way of the vessel being overtaken.
A vessel is deemed to be overtaking if more than 22.5 degrees abaft their beam. Only stern-light

Applies to Power Driven Vessel

A

Applies to PDV meeting on a reciprocal or near reciprocal shall alter course starboard.
Situation is deemed to exist when masthead lights and one or both sidelights are seen.
When a vessel is in doubt, assume it that it exist

Rule 19: Conduct of vessels in restricted visibility

A

Rule applies to vessels not in sight of another
Vessels shall proceed at a safe speed
Vessel that detects by radar Alone shall determine if a close quarters situation is developing
Shall not alter course port forward of the beam, or course change towards vessel abeam or abaft the beam
If fog signal is heard forward of the beam, shall reduce speed and navigate extreme caution
