1

Q

Directional Hypothesis

A

Researcher makes clear sort of difference that is anticipated between 2 conditions: People who drink energy drinks become more talkative than people who don’t.

Q

Non-directional Hypothesis

A

Just states the difference between the 2 conditions: People who drink energy drinks differ in the terms of talkativenes compared with people who don’t.

Q

Doing an experiment

A

Find two groups and do the experiment. Each group should have different conditions.

Q

Deciding which hypothesis to use

A

Use directional hypothesis when findings of previous research suggest a particular outcome. When no previous research or it contradicts, then it is non directional.

Q

IV and DV

A

IV: what is changed
DV: measures the effect of change
All other variables remain constant as it shouldn’t affect DV and researcher can say that cause of effect on DV was IV alone.

Q

Levels of IV

A

To test effect of IV, we need different experimental conditions: comparison. Control condition and experimental condition.
