Exothermic and endothermic reactions Flashcards
0
Q
What is an endothermic reaction?
A
Where energy must be added or absorbed into the reaction, often making the temperature of the surroundings decrease.
1
Q
What evidence will chemical change usually produce?
A
A gas is produced A precipitate is formed A permanent colour change An apparent change in mass or The temperature changes
2
Q
Examples of endothermic reactions?
A
Cracking ice pack, melting ice or baking a cake.
3
Q
What is an exothermic reaction?
A
When energy is released from the reaction. Often the temperature of the surroundings will increase.
4
Q
Examples of an exothermic reaction?
A
Lighting a Bunsen burner, condensing steam or the pop test.
