Exercise speed/rate Flashcards
Why is increasing the speed at which exercises or sequences of exercise is completed not always the best way to increase the intensity of the program?
When performing an exercise at a faster rate, it can potentially have an adverse effect on posture and joint.
What should the participant be able to do before increasing the speed at which exercises up formed?
A participant must be able to perform the same exercise or activity with an extremely good form/technique at low speeds
Who should highest speed exercises be reserved for ideally?
High speed exercise activity ideally reserve for people who are more conditioned and skilled
When resistance exercise is performed at a lower speed, what is normally increased and why?
The intensity is normally increased than the time the muscles are under detention is extended (time under tension?)
What do slower speeds normally mean?
Typically, they also mean greater control
what do faster movements typically result in?
Faster movements typically result in shorter periods of time under tension and as such are more often than not less intense from a musculoskeletal perspective
