EXERCISE 8 ANIMAL MEIOSIS Flashcards
the nuclear change of which the chromosomes are reduced from a DIPLOID to HAPLOID number
Meiosis
the most primitive or an immature sperm cell
Spermatogonia
the largest germ cells in the seminiferous tubules occupy the middle of the germinal epithelium. they become situated adjacent to the spermatogonia
Primary Spermatocytes
are distinctly smaller than the primary spermatocytes and the nuclear chromatin is less dense
Secondary spermatocytes
are smaller cells with small nuclei containing fine as well as larger chromatin granules. There cells lie in groups in the terminal portion of the tubule epithelium. The spermatids become closely associate of the surface of sertoli cells
Spermatids
are small, deep staining cells with head embedded in the cytoplasm while their tails extend into the lumen of the seminiferous tubule
Spermatozoa
