Exercise 2 Flashcards
What are the organs in the integumentary system
Skin
Name the 11 organ systems
Muscular Respiratory Lymphatic/immunity Urinary Nervous Digestive Skeletal Reproductive Integumentary Cardiovascular Endocrine
Name the parts of the skeletal system
Bones cartilages tendons ligaments and joints
Name the parts of the muscular system
Muscles
Name the parts of the nervous system
Brain spinal chord nerves sensory receptors
Name the parts of the endocrine
Pituitary thymus thyroid parathyroid adrenal pineal glands ovaries testes pancreas
Name the parts of the cardiovascular system
Heart blood vessels and blood
Name the parts of the lymphatic system
Lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes, spleen, thymus, tonsils and scattered collections of lymphoid tissue
Name the parts of the respiratory system
Nasal passages, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, lungs
Name the parts of the digestive system
Oral cavity, esophagus, stomach, small and large intestine and accessory structures like teeth, salivary glands, liver and pancreas
Name the parts of the urinary system
Kidneys ureters bladder and urethra
Name the parts of the reproductive system
Males: testes prostate gland scrotum pins and duct system
Females : ovaries uterine tubes uterus mammy glands and vagina
What are the functions of the integumentary system
Protect deeper organs
Excrete salts and urea
Aids in regulation of temp
Produce vitamin d
What is the function if the skeletal system
Body support and protection of internal organs
Provides levers for muscular action
Cavities provide a site for cell formation( red blood cells) stores minerals
What are the functions of the muscular system
Produces movement provides support
Generates heat
What is the function of the nervous system
Directs immediate responses to stimuli usually by coordinating the activities of other organ systems
What is the purpose of the endocrine system
Maintain homeostasis, promotes growth and development, produce hormones
Directs long term changes in other organ systems
What is the function of the cardiovascular system
Transport system for blood
Antibodies and other protein molecules in the blood protect the body
What is the purpose of the lymphatic system
Picks up fluid leaks and returns it to the blood
Cleans blood of pathogens and debris
House lymphocytes that act via the immune response to protect the body from foreign substances
What is the purpose of the respiratory system
Keep a continuos supply of oxygen while removing carbon dioxide
What is the purpose of the digestive system
Breaks down ingested food to minute particles which can be absorbed into the blood for delivery to the body cells
Undo heated residue removed from the body as feces
What is the purpose if the urinary system
Rids the body of nitrogen-containing wastes including urea and ammonia
Maintains water and electrolyte and acid base balance of blood. Eliminates excess water salts and wastes controls pH
What is the purpose of the reproductive system
Produces sex cells and hormones supports embryonic development
