Cabinet
the head of the executive departments of the federal government
Electoral College
a body of electors from each state who cast votes to elect the president and Vice President
Executive Order
a rule or regulation issued by a president or governor that has the force of law
Chief Commander
supreme commander and controller of the armed forces and military
Chief Executive
the top elected official in charge of enforcing laws and carrying out government
Chief Legislator
Has influence over what congress discusses and what bills it attempts to pass
Veto
the power of the president to reject a bill and send it back to Congress
Bully pulpit
A public office or position of authority that provides its occupants with an outstanding opportunity to speak out on any issue
Runoff election
a second election to determine a clear winner, following a first election in which no candidate received a majority of the votes
Line of succession
An ordered sequence of named people who would succeed to a particular office upon the death, resignation or removal of the current occupant; constructed using the rules of an established order of succession.

postponement of punishment for a crime
Pardons
a decree that frees a person from punishment for a crime
Amnesty
a general pardon usually granted to a group of people
Bureaucracy
a large, complex organization that functions under uniform rules and procedures
Pocket veto
the automatic killing of a bill by refusing to either sign it or veto it; this can occur only in the final days of a congressional session
