Appointment power of prez:
Appoints all ambassadors, justices of S.C., other public ministers. Congress appoints inferior officers
Removal of Appointees
Prez can fire any cabinet members at will but Congress can provide statutory limitations on all other executive appointees.
Pardons rules:
All federal (fed only) offenses only, not impeachment/civil contempt. CAN’T BE LIMITED BY CONGRESS
Veto Power
can veto act of Congress, but will be overriden by 2/3 of each house
Treaty power: making treaties, treaty power over other laws
power to enter into treaties with 2/3 consent of SENATE. Treaties are same as fed laws, if they conflict it is last to be drafted that prevails. CONSTITUTIONAL ALWAYS PREVAILS.
Executive Agreements:
Signed by Prez and head of foreign country, NO CONSENT NEEDED. Fed law prevails
impeachment rules:
majority of house and 2/3 senate. Grounds include treason, bribery, high crimes, misdemeanors
