Add urgency to imperative sentences.

Add emphasis to individual words or phrases.
We worked really late - it was midnight (!) before we left.
He has had 5 (!) lessons and still hasn’t got it.
He likes bikes - he has 10 (!) of them.
To indicate sarcasm or irony.
You’re so clever!
You failed again? Genius!
He looked great!
Context and/or tone will tell if it’s sarcasm.
Formatting titles of books etc. Same goes for question marks.
Titles with exclamation marks will be italicised, otherwise a normal one will go after it if added.
He watched (i)Mamma Mia!(i)
He watched (i)Groundhog Day(i)!
Question Mark
Will not be used for indirect questions.
