Carbonates, CO3 2- : all INSOLUBLE exp K, Na
All group 1 : SOLUBLE
What is a exchange/percipitation reaction?
When two solutions of ionic compounds are mixed together and an insoluble solid (precipitate) forms
Hint of exchange/ precipitation reactions in formulae

How to write a formulae for exchange and precipitate reactions
Always add an ‘s’ on the precipitate
Example of a exchange/ precipitation reaction
[reaction] this is a exchange/precipitation reaction
[observation] when the (colour) (soln) solution is added to a (colour) (soln) a (colour) precipitate forms
[word and balanced formula equation and ‘s’ scripture]
[chemistry and links] the (colour) (soln) contains (colour) (ion) ions and (colour) (ion) ions. the (colour) (soln) contains (colour) (ion) ions and (colour) (ion) ions. When they are mixed, all four types of ions come together. According to the solubility rules, (insoluble) is insoluble, therefore the (insoluble soln) ions react and form a (colour) precipitate of (formula of precipitate). The left over ions remain in solution and do not react and become spectator ions
