Inspect the hands, feel pulse and CRT
Inspect the face
Palpate the tummy in 9 areas
Feel for lie
Check engagement
Measure SFH
Pinnard between foetal shoulders or doppler

Speculum examination

Answer 2

Consent
Are you in any pain at the moment
Lie back and let legs fall to side
Inspect the vulva
Take speculum and put gel over the speculum
Place speculum in with the speculum loose
Fix in place so can see cervix
Take smear and rotate 5x clockwise
Take speculum out
Place end of smear into box

Bimanual examination

Answer 3

Consent and are you in any pain
Lie back and bring legs to bottom, let them fall to side
Inspect the vulva
Ask to cough for prolapse
Lubricate finger
Place on side of vagina
Put fingers in and feel for cervix
Palpate the uterus
Palpate the adnexa
Remove fingers and give paper towels

Set up sterile field without gloves, placing stuff on sterile field
Put NaCl on the cotton balls
Put gloves on
Clean vagina
Put sterile gloves on
Put drape on
Insert anaesthetic- wait 5 mins
Insert catheter
Inflate balloon with fluid
Attach bag
