Insular cases
Series of opinions by U.S. Supreme Court in 1901 about status of U.S. territories in the Spanish American war. The Supreme Court held that full constitutional rights do not extend to all places under American control.
Platt Amendment
Amendment passed that stipulated 7 conditions for the withdrawal of United States troops remaining in Cuba at end of Spanish American war. Eighth condition that Cuba sign a treaty accepting these 7 conditions

Treaty signed between U.S. Secretary of State hay and Herran of Colombia. New Panama Canal company lease a strip of land on isthmus to allow U.S. construction of canal. Then was rejected.
