Exam study unit 1 Flashcards
Define and give two examples of abiotic and biotic factors
Abitoc, water, air
Biotic, People, Microbes
Define and give two examples of producer and consumer
Producer, Grass, trees
Consumers, Humans, tigers
Explain the term bio amplification, explain how the TOP carnivore is affected the MOST by this
Organisms have toxins build up in them causing other animals to have the toxin being built up in them, as it goes on and more toxin gets built up.
Give an example of a food web, what would happen if one organism was removed?
If an organisms was removed the flow of energy would be disrupted causing any animal that relied on it to die.
Grass, grasshopper, mice, worm, robin, snake ,frog, hawk
What is the carbon cycle related to photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
While cellular respiration releases carbon dioxide into the environment, photosynthesis pulls carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere.
Define carrying capacity
The number of organisms an ecosystem can support
What are 3 human impacts on ecosystems, and how does each one affect biodiversity?
Cars, global warming
plastic production, pollution
Urban sprawl, dispersing animals roved of ecosystem.
