  • A 30 minute short answer NOT an essay, no intro no conclusion
  • As many ways as possible ideally 21 points directly answering the question
  • Don’t worry about extensive analysis, use critical terminology associated with narrative, wider vocab about narrative

FOCUS ON: AO2

  • Narrative/ perspective/ voice
  • Setting/ time/ place
  • Structure/ patterns in structure
  • Form/ story progression/ stanzas/ rhyme if relevant
  • Language/ patterns/ groups/ techniques used often

Section A (b) = “How far do you agree that…”

A
  • A 30 minute short answer NOT essay, no intro/ conclusion
  • set up a DEBATE, put forward a viewpoint (ideally 10) then challenge them “one the other hand…”
  • AO1: terminology/ concepts
  • A03: different interpretations/ debate
  • AO4: limited interest in this, significance of contexts written in NOT history

Section B = gives statement/ quote: “Write about the significance of …. in the stories of the three writers you have studied”

  • 1 hour answer, NOT an essay, no intro/conclusion
  • DONT compare texts, think of it as 3 short (20 minute) answers, write about 3 large paragraphs
  • Write about 1 or two scenes/ episodes/stories from the texts as evidence to the question
  • Do NOT include text referenced in section A, compare aspects of narrative within texts, not across them
  • AO1: terminology/concepts
  • AO2: how structure/ form/ language shape meanings
  • A03: debate, different interpretations
