What are the main places of Jerusalem
In the south to north is Bethlehem, Bethany, Jerusalem, Nain, Nazareth and Cana.
Describe Gallilee
Gallilee is a region which is north of Palestine. They contain remote villages and fertile land. Jesus lived in this region with Joseph and Mary. It was populated with fisherman and was considered well off
Samaria
Samaria was located in the middle of Palestine. This region was generally avoided because of intermarriages. It was known for their foreign ceremonies and the Samaritans. It was Jewish in origin
Judea
Judea was found south of Palestine. It was considered the holy land because Jesus was born here and it populated cities such as Bethlehem and Jerusalem. It was known for its great wilderness and the Jewish temple
Pharisees
Pharisees were a group of people who kept the laws of the Torah. Jesus argued with the Pharisees about the law regularly
Scribes
Scribes were well-educated Jews who wrote the laws. They were lawyers
Conversion
This is the changing of religion
Jew
Someone who believes in the Jewish faith
Gentile
Someone who didn’t identify with any religion. Some became Christian
Persecution
Or be oppressed for your beliefs. Could result in jail or death
Essenes
They were monks who lived in remote deserts. They were claimed to be the true believers of Jesus
Sadducees
They were priests of the temple who were wealthy and powerful
Zealots
Rebels who saw themselves as a military group. They wanted to end the Roman rule
Messiah
The chosen one. Led the Jews
Martyr
Someone who died for their religious beliefs
