Discuss 2 similarities and 2 differences in the Jewish and Babylonian creation story.
2 similarities:
Both stories described the beginning of the world as “formless”, “desolate”, “nothing existed”. Whilst Earth was submerged in water.
Man was created in the god’s image for the god/gods.
2 differences:
Monotheistic and polytheistic qualities - Tiamat, Apsu, Marduk.
One was peaceful whilst the other was filled with war.
Define spirituality.
It includes a sense of connection to something bigger than ourselves, typically involves a search for meaning in life.
Define collective identity.
Collective identity is the shared sense of belonging to a group.
Define religious tradition.
Inherited, action, or behavior defined as a religious practice or custom.
Describe pesach.
The pesach involves a 6 day celebration and the consumption of Seder meal.
Jewish celebration of Passover to celebrate their liberation by God from slavery in Egypt under the leadership of Moses.
State the 8 aspects.
Myths and other stories. Symbols. Beliefs. Sacred texts. Religious experiences and spirituality. Social structures. Rituals. Ethical principles.

Describe one ritual explaining its significance to the religious tradition for each main religion studied.
Judaism - consumption of Seder meal is significant to the religious tradition of Pesach.
Islam - praying is significant to the religious tradition of Salat, which is the obligatory Muslim prayers performed five times each day.
Christianity - the consumption of bread and wine is significant to the religious tradition of communion.
Catholicism - fasting or the restriction of certain luxuries is significant to the religious tradition of lent.

Symbols. - principles by which a person, action, or thing can stand for something else.
Define ‘belief’.
Beliefs. - article of faith that is believed to be true.
Define ‘sacred texts’
Sacred texts. - written literature in which essential parts of the religion are recorded.
Define ‘religious experience and spirituality’.
Religious experiences and spirituality. - life events that can be attached to religious meaning.
Define ‘social structures’.
Social structures. - a social model to which society conforms.
Define ‘ritual’.
Rituals. - religious ceremonies that consist of a series of actions, sayings, practices.
