cancel cuture is a practice where those who are deemed to have acted or spoken in an unacceptable manner are ostracized, boycotted, or shunned. This shunning may extend to social or professional circles—whether on social media or in person—with most high-profile incidents involving celebrities. Those subject to this ostracism are said to have been “canceled”.
How does Cancel culture relate to freedom of speech?
cancel counter establishes Norms that is deemed to be taboo or not safe to talk about and those who do talk about these topics or hold socially unacceptable are shunned and criticized and ostracized. even more cancel culture also targets past conversations where where the norms were different in what was ethically and morally acceptable was different.so what people have said yesterday or a long period of time ago can be canceled in the present day even if their minds have changed.
in other words cancel culture prevents come first nation and difference of opinions that may go against the grain. this can prevent people from having an intellectual dialogue where where the minds may actually be changed if they are in a respectful conversation and aren’t just shunned for the opinion that they have.
