Exam Questions Flashcards
Suggest one reason why the wave frequency at the two locations differ (3)
One reason is due to fetch which is the distance the wave travels in open water. In Location A, the waves travel longer to reach the coastline meaning that the wave has more energy leading to destructive waves with high wave frequency compared to Location B which has lower wave energy and lower wave frequency
Gravity settling
When the load that is being transported is too heavy so will be deposited first followed by the smaller sediment when that also becomes too heavy
Flocculation
When suspended particles e.g clay bind together forming a bigger sediment so therefore become too heavy and is deposed on the sea bed
