The earth rotates on its axis and orbits the sun.

What creates night and day?
As the earth spins on its axis, part of the earth faces the sun (day) and part of the earth faces away from the sun (night).
What causes the seasons?
Because the earth is tilted on its axis one hemisphere is closer to the sun and experiences summer and the other is further and experiences winter.
What is the equinox?
When the sun is directly above the equator.
