Who was Kronos?
Leader of Titans, father of the Olympian gods, married to rhea. Often associated with Saturnalia
What were Kronos’s symbols?
- sickle(used to harvest wheat)
- hourglass(used to tell time)
What did Kronos look like?
He was an old man, normally bearded, often carrying one of his children.
How did Zues overthrow Kronos?
He hid in a cave with a goat until he was strong enough to cut Kronos and born the Olympians from his stomach.
What was the conquest of Brittania?
Julius Ceaser first came to Britain they didn’t stay long, but general Agricola came back and invaded/expanded.
Traits of Celts:
- lived in small round shacks (built of stick and mud)
-good metalworkers (gold was often used)
-had Druids instead of gods.
Who was Aphrodite?
Goddess of beauty and love.
What was Aphrodite pictured with?
Doves, roses, swans, seashells.
Aphrodites appearence:
Beautiful, red or lighter blond hair, vain, emotional (pick me), pays attention to beauty and luxury.
Who was Aphrodite related to?
Son: Cupid, and a Trojan warrior
Married to Hephaestus but has affairs with mars.
What were some Aphrodite stories?
Ares and Aphrodite: the 2 were caught in a net on their way to cheat and were laughed at by the gods.
Trojan war: she promised a prince the most beautiful girl in the world, starting a war.
