Exam modalities Flashcards
Event Related Potential (ERP)
The EEG recording obtained during a specific task, averaged over hundreds of trials; deviation from the characteristic signal suggests pathology at specific loci within the known transition pathways for the given sensory modality
Nerve conduction study
Transcutaneous stimulation of a peripheral nerve is performed at one site and recorded at another; measures nerve conduction velocity
H2(15)O PET
Maps changes in regional blood flow associated with specific activities/stimulation, using cognitive subtraction
18FDG PET
Maps changes in glucose uptake of neurons following specific stimulation/activity, using cognitive subtraction
fMRI
Measures regional changes in the relative concentrations of oxyhemoglobin and deoxyhemoglobin, based on their differing magnetic properties
