Auto-kinetic effect
a study created by Sherif. an optical illusion that occurs when someone stares at a stationary point of light in a darkened room where there is no frame of reference. People will conform, the reality is less clear

What are Kohlberg’s stages of moral development?
preconventional- right and wrong governed by standards of others. Conventional- Individual has internalized standards of others. Post conventional- individuals weigh moral alternatives
Psychosis
in psychosis the ego lets itself be carried away by the id and detached from a part of reality. Generic psychiatric term for a mental state involving the loss of contact with reality.
Neurosis
the neurosis the ego suppresses part of the id out of allegiance to reality. a term referring to mental distress that unlike psychosis does not prevent rational thoughts
What is the danger of over diagnosis with the DSM?
power of diagnostic labels. confusion of serious mental disorders with normal problems. illusion of objectivity and universality
