 displacement – not taking your anger out on your boss , but on your husband
 denial – reality is denied , …..being told you have a hip fracture and still doing push ups
 identification –individual incorporates a characteristic …..dressing up like your favorite actress
 introjection – an attribute of another is internalized ….child following direction while parents are not around
 projection attributing characteristics that the person does not want to admit to…..blaming the teacher cause you did poor on your test
