Acknowledge the patient concern

What is conflict ?
Presences of opposing or incompatible thoughts , ideas , goals , implies or drive
Eg: when a person is I’ll and needs to see a physician , but does not for fear of getting bad news
What is personality & how is it developed ?
Relatively consistent attitudes & behaviors particular of an individual
–development comes from hereditary ( nature ) and enviorment ( nurture )
Freud’s theory of personality , superego , ego , ID, ?
- ID ( child ) - seeks pleasure , gratification , primitive drives …. basic , innate , psychic energy
- EGO-(adult )- stands for good reason , spence ….. reasonable … Mediates between persons perception & objective reality , always rational
- SUPEREGO(parent ) -Part of the personality that acts like a conscience eg : what’s right or wrong …….. Incorporates societal values judgemental & critical
What is motivation ?
personal resources or inner drive to complete a task , to reach a goal , may be EXTRINSIC or INTRISIC
What is frustration ?
Anything that interferes with goal - directed activity
What is the most important factor in therapuetic relationship ?
Building trust
