Database for EPIC
Master Files
Info in Chronicles is organized in these. Each one stores all of the data about one type of thing.
Records
Keeps specific examples or instance of a master file separate. Each one stores info about one specific entity in the master file.
Contacts
Data-sensitive info about a record is stored in this. A data specific snapshot of data within a record.
Item
A discrete field within a record.
Value
Data that is stored in an item.
Report
Collection of Print Groups.
Print Groups
These search Chronicles and display the results in a specific format. Three styles: Plain Text, Rich Text and Native HTML.
Profile
Used by EPIC’s Clinical Applications only. Controls details within Activities.
User/User Template
Profile settings common to a specialized group of users.
EpicCare Security Class
Profile settings common to people with the same job duties or scope of practice.
Login Department
Profile settings common to people who have different job duties but work in the same department.
Login Rev. Location
Profile settings common to everyone who works in a particular hospital or clinic, regardless of job duties.
Login Service Area
Profile settings common to everyone who works in a particular region or group of hospitals and/or clinics, regardless of job duties.
System Definitions
Global profile settings that apply to every clinical user in your system unless overridden at a more specific level.
Facility (EAF)
An entire organization. Always one and ONLY one facility.
