Exam 4 Flashcards
What things did Crick predict in his adaptor hypothesis?
mRNA, codon-anticodon interactions, aminoacyl-tRNA, tRNA, aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase, and editing by aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases
The reading frame problem
Solved by the start codon (AUG) at the beginning of all translations
Synonyms
multiple codons can encode the same amino acid. there are 64 codons
Outer coat proteins
The defining factor/difference between transport vesicles. COPII moves anterograde from ER to cis golgi, COPI moves retrograde from golgi to ER, and clathrin moves between the endosome and golgi from the plasma membrane
Clathrin coat
Triskeleton with 3 large and 3 small polypeptide chains. The light chains bind to actin force for membrane budding/vesicle movement and are phosphorylated for regulation. Adaptor proteins bind the membrane bound proteins
