Exam 3 Poinas Flashcards
Pectineus MA
Hip ADDUCTION
Slightly FLEXES hip
Assists with hip LATERAL ROTATION
Pectineus PA
Superior pubic ramus
Pectineus DA
Pectineal line of femur
Pectineus N
Femoral nerve (L2, L3); may receive a branch from obturator nerve
Sartorius MA
At the hip:
- FLEXION
- ABduction
- LATERAL ROTATION
At the knee:
- FLEXION
- MEDIAL ROTATION when flexed
Sartorius PA
Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
Sartorius DA
Pes anserine of tibia
Sartorius N
Femoral nerve (L2, L3)
Gluteus Maximus MA
Hip EXTENSION
(especially from flexed position)
Assists in hip LATERAL ROTATION
Fixes hip joint and assists in
rising from sitting position
Gluteus Maximus PA
Posterior gluteal line of ilium; dorsal sacrum and coccyx; sacrotuberous ligament
Gluteus Maximus DA
Most fibers end in *iliotibial tract, which attaches to Gerdy’s tubercle of tibia; some fibers insert on gluteal tuberosity
*”IT band” will also be accepted
Gluteus Maximus N
Inferior gluteal nerve (L5, S1, S2)
Gluteus Medius MA
Hip ABduction (all)
Hip MEDIAL ROTATION (TFL and anterior fibers of Glut Med/Min)
Hip EXTERNAL ROTATION by posterior fibers Glut Med
Keeps contralateral pelvis level during single limb stance
(Ipsilateral limb is weight bearing)
Gluteus Medius PA
Ilium, between anterior and posterior
gluteal lines
Gluteus Medius DA
Greater trochanter
Gluteus Medius N
Superior gluteal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Gluteus Minimus MA
Hip ABduction (all)
Hip MEDIAL ROTATION (TFL and anterior fibers of Glut Med/Min)
Gluteus Minimus PA
Ilium, between anterior and inferior gluteal lines
(Does not go up to the iliac crest)
Gluteus Minimus DA
Greater trochanter
Gluteus Minimus N
Superior gluteal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
Tensor Fasciae Latae MA
Main internal rotator!
Hip ABduction (all)
Hip MEDIAL ROTATION (TFL and anterior fibers of Glut Med/Min)
Tensor Fasciae Latae PA
Anterior superior iliac spine (ASIS)
anterior iliac crest
Tensor Fasciae Latae DA
*liotibial tract, which attaches to
Gerdy’s tubercle of tibia
*“IT band” will also be accepted
Tensor Fasciae Latae N
Superior gluteal nerve (L4, L5, S1)
